Bookends & Stands

(4)

Bookends do quiet structural work on a shelf, and the pieces here treat that job as an opportunity for material interest. The Conran Shop's own designs are cast in terrazzo and marbled composite — resin blended with marble powder — in curved and wedge profiles that hold a row upright without visual bulk.

Nada Debs contributes book stoppers inlaid with marquetry strips, a continuation of a craft tradition rendered in brick, dark grey and pink finishes. Assouline's A Bookstand takes a different approach: an easily assembled stand that displays a single volume face-out, available in clear acrylic and solid colours.
